Lambert raises $120K for Humane Society

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 – Miranda Lambert raised $120,000 in her "Cause for the Paws" event, benefiting the Humane Society of East Texas. "I can't express how much this year's 'Cause For the Paws' event touched me," said Lambert of the May 17 event. "The giving spirit of those who were at the event this year was truly inspiring. It means the world to me and to the animals of East Texas. I am excited to see the improvements that we will make at the shelter. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I cannot wait to see everyone next year."

In addition to food and a meet and greet, the event featured a concert with Lambert, boyfriend Blake Shelton, Kasey Musgraves and Adam Hood.

Lambert, an animal lover and Lindale native, chose the Humane Society of East Texas as her charity and has been a supporter for several years. She is involved in many facets of helping abused, abandoned and neglected animals through Pawsabilites, the umbrella name which encompasses this charity event as wells at TAILS (Texoma Animal Improved Living Society), and RACE (Ran's Animal Care Express). "After being blessed with my tour buddy Delilah from the shelter, I became even more convinced that the saying 'think globally, act locally' was a great motto for me," said Lambert.

Lambert is currently working on a new record, due out in September, including her single Dead Flowers. Lambert is a special guest on Kenny Chesney's Sun City Carnival Tour with dates scheduled through the summer.
