Q: AOL USERS HELP:
Having problems staying logged in? Don't follow a link from our email notifications to login, instead type www.westernmatch.com in the address bar and then login. The AOL browser doesn't store cookies needed to keep you logged in. Also, double check to make sure your cookies are turned "ON". If you are still having problems, then use the Internet Explorer browser instead of the AOL browser. You can find this icon on your desktop with all your other icons. Double click Internet Explorer. When a new window opens, go the site and login as usual. This should solve your problem.
Q: I did not receive my confirmation code?
Please check your Spam or blocked email folder,
the confirmation email is most likely sitting
in this folder. There are many new anti-Spam
programs, business networks, and Internet
Service Providers that are appropriately
blocking unwanted emails. Add email@westernmatch.com
and westernmatch@cox.net to your safe
list and address book to receive future email
notifications. Don't resign up, we will activate your profile.
Q: The confirmation code I received doesn't
work?
This is most likely caused by copying and
pasting the confirmation code. Make sure
you do not copy any extra spaces. Contact us if you still can't get the code to work.

Q: Why does my account say "unconfirmed"?
Each time you change your account e-mail
or sign up to the service for the first time, your account is
set to "Unconfirmed" mode. Your email address will need to be confirmed.
Check your email inbox to see if the confirmation email is there. If it is not, check your spam folder. You will need to follow the link supplied in the e-mail
to confirm your email address.
To receive a new confirmation email: In the
members home page, click on the "explanation"
box next to the "unconfirmed" link.
Next click on "Send me confirmation
e-mail". It will resend you the confirmation
email as well as provide you with the field
to enter your confirmation code.
Q: Why doesn't the site accept my username
or email address?
The username you choose must be unique and
not used by another member. The system will auto select a new alternative. Please make
sure that you do not already have a profile
on our service.
Q: Is your site free?
We offer a free and fee based membership.
When you first sign up to the service, your
profile is set to a "Standard (free)
Membership"

The gold membership gives you full access

Q: My membership didn't get upgraded?
If you paid by echeck, the check will need to clear before your profile is upgraded. This may take 3-5 days. Please send us an
email with your username if you feel there is another reason why your profile did not get upgraded.
Q: How do I cancel my Gold Membership?
PLEASE READ: Canceling your Gold Membership and deleting your profile are two different things. If you simply want to delete your profile, login and click on the delete profile link located on the left menu. If you want to cancel billing, please read further. We offer two payment methods. Automatic
reocurring billing through Paypal, and one time billing through 2checkout.com.
Paypal - If you wish to cancel your Paypal Subscription, you will need to login to your Paypal account to cancel. How to Cancel Paypal: Once logged into Paypal, 1. Click on the profile tab near the top of the page. 2. Click my money. 3. Click Update in the My preapproved payments section. 4. Click Cancel or Cancel automatic billing and follow the instructions. If you do not have a PayPal account, you should contact us directly to cancel the agreement. If you can not contact us, you should contact PayPal Customer Service by phone. Cancelling your subscription will immediately stop all future scheduled payments. LATE CANCELLATION NOTICE: We will not refund for late cancellation, please make sure you cancel your subscription service prior
to billing. If you do not know how to do
this, send us an email here. 2checkout.com - If you used 2checkout.com,
you need do nothing. Your account will convert back to a standard membership

Q: Do you do background checks on members?
No, we do not do background checks on members.
Q: Do you sell or give away personal information?
No, we will not sell or give away any personal information unless required to do so by law. We do not have access to any financial details should you purchase a gold membership.
Q: What are some red flags I should watch for while communicating?
Trust your gut instincts. When you feel that something isn't quite right, that usually is the case. If a date has a tendancy to end calls suddenly, be wary, they are most likely not as single as they claim. Be wary if your date starts saying I Love You after meeting for the first time - or even worse, before even meeting. Be wary of any person that immediately tells you that they are broke, just got laid off from work, or have been scammed financially in the past. They may be looking to scam you in the present. Be wary of anyone who asks for your personal information, such as your phone number or home address, very early on in your communications. NEVER, lend money to anyone asking you for plane fare so that they may come visit you. We want you to enjoy your time on our service, but we also want you to keep your guard up.
Q: What are Nigerian Scammers and how do you spot them?
A Nigerian scammer is a person who may contact you in order to obtain money. They will use a false name, age, country of birth, occupation and most cunningly, they will have a misleading purpose for contacting you. They will appear sweet, caring and in-need of your help. They are usually easy to spot. They often mix up their phrases:

Q: How do I modify my profile?
Login and click on "my profile".
Make changes in the field and click the save
button at the bottom of the page. Your profile
will then going into pending approval mode.
Q: My profile say "pending approval"
or "unavailable for view"?
If you just signed up to the service, or
modified your profile it will need to be
approved before it goes live on the site
and will show as "pending approval"
status. If you run across another members
profile that says "profile unavailable
for view" the profile was either hidden
by the member, pending approval, or has been
suspended.
Q: What is the Gold Horseshoe?
This signifies that the member has a "Gold
Membership".
Q: How do i change my email address or password?
Click on "my profile". Type your
new email address in both the email address
field and the confirm email address field
and click save at the bottom of the page.
Next check your email to confirm your new
email address. This is the same step you
used when you first registered a profile
on the site. To change your password simply replace the old password with the
new and click save.
Q: Can I change my username?
We're sorry there is no way to change your
username. This would cause confusion between
members. You may however, delete your current
profile and recreate a new one. Please keep in mind that deleting
your profile will erase everything.
Q: How do I take my profile temporarily offline?
Login and click on "my profile".
Click the "take profile offline" link.
This will take your profile offline. You
may reactivate it at anytime by clicking
on the "reactivate" link. IMPORTANT NOTE: Hiding your profile does not cancel your Paypal Gold Membership. See the Membership questions for how to cancel your Gold Membership.
Q: How do I delete my profile from your website?
Login and click on the "delete profile link"
located on the left main menu. Fill out the form to have your profile removed
from the database. Please allow up to 8 hours.
You may take your profile offline immediately
by clicking on the "take profile offline link located in "my profile".
IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting your profile does not cancel your Gold Membership with Paypal. See Membership questions on how to cancel your Gold Membership.
Q: What are your profile guidelines?
Please consider the profile guidelines a part of our Terms of Service. We review each profile before it goes online
to make sure it is suitable for others to see. NOTE: Although we do our best to approve only quality profiles, it is possible for a profile breaking our guidelines to slip through our approval process.
1.) No offensive, harrassing, vulgar, raciest or rude comments permitted in your profile.
2.) For your safety, no email address, phone number, address, URL, business advertisement or personal information is permitted in your profile.
3.) You may only create one profile and must submit our online cancellation form when you are finished using the service.
4.) You may not post a profile for another person.
5.) You must be single or legally separated.
6.) You may not ask others to send you personal information through your profile.
7.) You must have no criminal record.
8.) No poems, songs or copyright material is permitted in your profile.
9.) You must be 18 years or older to use the service.
10.)You may not write messages to other members through your profile. Please use the WM mailbox.
We reserve the right to reject a profile whose gold membership purchase has been determined fraudulent, or for any reason we deem necessary.

Q: How do I upload a photo to my profile?
Login and go to the "upload photo"
page. Click on the browse button to locate
the photo saved on your computer, or from
a Disk or CD. (The photo must be a jpg file format). Once you locate the file, click open. Next click the upload button to upload
the image to our website. Hold your horses,
large files take time to upload. We offer
a crop tool in the "upload photo"
page so that you can crop a nice head shot
for the thumbnail image. Or, you can simply
go to http://www.snipshot.com to crop, rotatoe, or brighten your photos.
Q: How does the Private Photos work?
You have the option of making photos 1-4
private, by checking the box next to the
photo that says "make photo private"
(thumbnail images can not be made private). After this step go to "my profile"
and on the bottom of this page is the "private
photo password" field. Type in a password
and click save. Note: Do not use the same password as your profile
password.
When a member wants to view your private
photo, you will receive a request in the
communicator page. You may either grant permission
to the password or not.
Q: Can I send my photos to you by snail mail?
Yes you may. We will upload (1) one photo for free. Each
additional photo is $2.00 per photo. Pay
by Cash or money order. Please include a
stamped envelope if you want your photos

Q: Why are my photos blurry?
When you upload a small photo, our system
enlarges it to 450 x 450. Make sure your
photo is at least this large. Thumbnail images
are automatically resized. If you use a crop
tool, don't crop the images too small. Figure
the size of the photo on the screen to look
like a 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 picture.
Q: What are your photo guidelines?
A photo can make or break your profile. Please post clear photos.
1.) Post a clear head shot of yourself as the main image. This photo is used in the search results and is the first impression photo.
2.) No sexual or nude photos.
3.) No clipart or copywritten images.
4.) No group photos in the main image, that means two or more individuals.
5.) No animals, vehicles, clipart, scenic photos in the main image. Unnecessary photos will be removed to reserve server space.
6.) No photos with children.
7.) No email address, web address, or company name on the photo.
8.) Please limit horses. Members want to see pictures of you.
Get 5x more response by posting a good photo. Poor quality photos will be removed.
Photo Terms of Use: By uploading a photo to the Western Match.com website, you agree that the photo you upload is a actual photo of yourself. Should you upload a group photo, you agree that you have permission from the individual whose picture you upload. You agree that you are completely responsible for the photo you upload to your profile. We reserve the right to crop or remove any photo that does not meet our guidelines. These guidelines are set to enhance the qualilty of profiles.
Q: I can't access the chatroom?
Do you have a Java enabled browser? Most browsers come equiped with Java. Please check the following:
1.) Go to www.java.com to make sure you have Java installed on your computer. On the Java website click on the "do I have Java" link. The site will begin testing your browser for Java. If you do not have Java, you will be prompt to install it. It is a free download. The site says I have Java but still can't access the chat room?
2.) Check your security software or anti-virus program and make sure it is set to allow java. Do a search in the programs help section for "allow java applets". Still having problems?
3.) Check your browser and make sure it is set to accept Java.
To enable JavaScript in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x or 6.x, perform the following steps:
1. From the Tools menu at the top of your screen, select Internet Options.
2. Next select the security tab.
3. Next click the custom level button.
4. Scroll down until you see "scripting of Java Applets". Click enable and then "ok". All other browsers click here.
The best way to ensure changes to core function settings to take effect is to close all browser windows completely, then relaunch it.
Q: Somebody is bugging or harrassing me?
If somebody is bugging or harassing you the
best thing to do is simply ignore them...
99.9% of the time they will soon leave you
alone. By not responding to an offending
member (i.e., not giving them any attention,
not letting them get to you), most people
will simply go away. You may block the member
in the chatroom to keep them from sending
you an instant message. Annoying people get
bored very fast when you don't allow them
to annoy you.
Western Match does NOT get involved in personal
matters because we can not choose sides.
(ie, he said, she said). Please only contact
us if a member is using foul, abusive or
sexual language. Solicitating money, credit
card numbers or sending spam. We reserve
the right to remove anyone from the service.
Please familiarize yourself with the "save
chat conversation" button. You may send
us chat conversations that you feel are unappropriate.
Q: Are the chatrooms free?
Yes, the chatroom's are free for all Western
Match members.
Q: How do I use instant messaging?
Sending: Only Gold Members can use instant messaging and must be online to send or receive a private instant message. When someone is trying to contact you, the IM box will pop up and you will see the members username. Begin typing in the box and hit enter. You can switch between members. If another member enters into the room, you can drop your conversation and begin communicating with the new member by clicking on the username. Only you and the member you are chatting with can see your conversation.

Go to your "outbox". You will see
the read or unread status.

Match to your popup blocker "ok"
list.
Q: How do I block or unblock a member?
To block a member, locate the members profile. Click view profile to open it. On the left menu, click block member. To unblock a member, go to the communciator page and check the box next to the members username to unblock the member and select unblock.
