The story is real, the names have been changed.

Now Uncle Legend was a contract fencer and stopped off at the local bar before taking his pickup-box load of fence posts back home. It seemed that that night all the neighboring ranchers and townfolk had picked that night to stop in at the bar as well. Nine pm turned to 10pm, and a local rancher (and friend of Uncle Legend's) "Frank" decided he needed to get back home.

Frank had no sooner stepped out of the bar and headed to his pickup than he noticed Uncle Legend's pickup-box load of fence posts. Now an idea that might have a disagreeable face in the daylight, can sometimes seem a real beaut after coming out of a bar, and he gets the idea to help Uncle Legend out by lightening his load. Frank proceeded to unload Uncle Legend's fence posts and stack them in a neat square right next to the trailer. Frank had a good chuckle and then went home.

About midnight Uncle Legend and a few of his friends called it a night and walked outside and saw the neat stack of posts, and his empty trailer. After watching him start loading his posts back up, and laughing, they pitched in and helped him load his trailer.

..and that might have been the end of it. But it's tit for tat, when the pranking starts..

A few weeks later Uncle Legend was driving along the highway, passing some of Frank's land, and figured out a way to even the score. Frank was using a particular barbwire gate regularly at that time of the year. Uncle Legend pulls off the highway and up to the gate. He gets a nice solid 10 foot creosote wood post (the kind you can build bull-proof H-Brace 'box-corner' out of). He removes the steel gate lever from the barbwire gate and replaces it with this 10 foot post.

For a month Frank walked in a 10 foot circle just to undo the latch on that barbwire gate. Finally Uncle Legend switched the post for Frank's Steel gate lever again.
